Self Reflection :D

Since young, public speaking was not something that I liked, for it made me nervous a lot. Thus, when I got this assignment, I did not know what to do. I really thought I was going to mess it up and stutter in front of my friends. However, because I did not want to be embarrassed, I practiced and practiced and over time, I 'almost' overcame this nervous habit of mine, which was a great improvement. Nonetheless, I still knew I tried to avoid the audience as possible during the speech, which my classmates had noticed on - "... look into the audiences’ eyes!" and "... try to stay strong all the way!" Thus, I definitely know what I have to work on: be more confident about what I am saying and look have better eye contact with everyone. I mean, they are not some people whom I have first met and should be scared of; they are all my friends whom I knew for a long time. Still, I should be confident when providing my speech wherever I am, even if those audiences are not my friends at all.

There were several other suggestions from my peers about what I should do in the future."Too logical! let’s try to attract more through triggering emotional values.", "... Sunyoung did not make a lot of hand gestures", "... should provide better examples". All of these sayings told me one thing: I had to work harder on both verbal and nonverbal parts of my speech. For example, I should try to grab more attentions by talking about something that would provoke emotions from every audience. I also should try to move around and do more hand gestures, making some funny gestures in between to make the audience laugh. Likewise, providing better examples that would hook the audience would also be my mission to accomplish. Overall, this public speaking assignment was fun and there were many things that I learned through it. I enjoyed it and hope to do something similar later in the future!
